The Docent Experience

My favorite thing about being a docent is being able to share my knowledge of nature with the public, especially children.

Jeffry Wilkinson

Initially I wanted to be a Winter Wildlife Docent at Point Reyes National Seashore solely because of my love for the wildlife and my desire to inspire a passion for conservation in others. While this is still an important component to me, one of my favorite things about being a docent is the opportunity to spend time with and learn from other docents. I am both humbled and honored to be a part of this program.

Sean Pickton

My docent work and training enriches my life by teaching me so much about our marine mammals and the PORE environment and allowing me to meet & interact with visitors from all over the world. I love helping visitors, especially young people, understand the importance of land conservation and these magnificent mammals.
